Morecambe man admits being concerned in dealing heroin and cocaine

Steven Lee Avison, of Heysham Road, Heysham, Morecambe, pleaded guilty to charges of being concerned in the supply of heroin and cannabis.
The offences took place between May and June 2017 in the Morecambe area.

Hide AdJudge Beverly Lunt, sitting at Preston Crown Court, asked for an explanation about what she described as an “absolutely hideous delay” in the case.
Prosecuting, Mercedeh Jabbari explained there had been a probe against another man thought to be involved, for whom no further action was taken on evidential grounds.
Another suspect had since been jailed seven and a half years for other drug offences, so a decision of no further action was taken in his case.
The court heard there was also a delay in submitting forensic statements about the content of the drugs.
Judge Lunt adjourned the case until August 24 for sentence.

Hide AdShe said: “ You know this is a serious case and prison has to be the most likely outcome, but I will order a pre sentence report.”
She granted the defendant unconditional bail in the meantime.
